Vietnam's top startups are ready for the Final Round of VietChallenge 2020

2020 is a challenging and challenging year for the world economy in general and Vietnamese startups in particular. With the mission of pioneering in creating the right launch pad for Vietnamese startups, the fifth season of VietChallenge 2020 is entering the most intense period.

The final round of the competition, "Global Entrepreneurship - VietChallenge 2020," will be held at 21:00 on 10/10/2020 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and at 09:00 am on October 11, 2020, Vietnam timezone.

* Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Finals of VietChallenge will be held online on social networks to ensure the guests and the whole organizers' safety.

Besides, the Watch Party of VietChallenge 2020 Finals will also be held at the Children's Palace at 36-38 Ly Thai To, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

  • Mr. Andy Wu, Assistant Professor, Harvard Business School.

Andy Wu is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Strategy Unit of the Harvard Business School. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his S.B. in Economics and Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Wu is passionate about linking theory with the practice of technology commercialization entrepreneurship. Professor Wu is currently the founder and investor of Identified Technologies. This Pittsburgh-based firm delivers cloud-hosted aerial data collected via proprietary UAVs and dock stations to the upstream energy industry.

  • Ms. Anne Dwane, Co-founder and Partner, Village Global

Anne Dwane is co-founder and partner at Village Global, an early-stage venture fund backed by some of the world's best most successful entrepreneurs, including Jeff Bezos, Sarah Blakely, Ken Chenault, Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman, and Anne Wojcicki. Experienced as a tech company founder, venture-backed CEO, public company executive, and investor, Anne is passionate about aligning teams and applying technology to unleash human potential.

  • Mr. Binh Tran, General Partner, 500 Startups Vietnam

Binh Tran is a General Partner at 500 Startups Vietnam, one of the most active global venture capital firms. Mr. Binh Tran is a prominent seed-stage investor and is well-known among Vietnam-connected startups. Before 500 Startups, Binh started his career as a software engineer and started three failed software startups before co-founded four startups, including his latest, Klout in 2008, which raised over $40M was acquired for over $200M in 2014. With one foot in Silicon Valley and the other in the Mekong Delta, he's excited to reconnect with his motherland.

  • Mr. Denny Cowger, Managing Director, Navigate Vietnam

Denny Cowger is the Managing Director of Navigate Consulting, a premier consulting firm focusing on helping international businesses navigate the Vietnamese market's complexity successfully. Mr. Cowger has over ten years of working experience in Vietnam, having been in private practice with the law firms of Mayer Brown JSM and then Duane Morris Vietnam LLC before coming into his current role for the last five years.

  • Mr. Euan Rellie, Co-founder and Senior Managing Director, BDA Partners

Euan Rellie is Co-Founder and Senior Managing Director of BDA, based in New York. He is also President of BDA Advisors Inc, the firm's SEC/FINRA registered broker-dealer. He focuses on fundraising initiatives and investor engagement for BDA Capital Partners. BDA Partners is the global investment banking advisor for Asia, a premium provider of Asia-related advice to sophisticated clients globally, with over 20 years' experience advising on cross-border M&A, capital raising, and financial restructuring.

  • Mr. Kendrick Nguyen, Founder and CEO, Republic

Kendrick Nguyen is the Founder and CEO of Republic.co - a platform that provides end-to-end fundraising, distribution, and advisory solutions. Mr. Nguyen co-founded two other fintech startups and advised a venture capital platform. After a successful business and legal career on fundraising, ops, and investments, Kendrick and his Republic's team are now helping hundreds of founders and investors with capital raises.

  • Mr. Mike Edelhart, Managing Partners, Social Starts and Joyance Partners

Mike Edelhart is a managing partner at Social Starts, a venture capital partnership with a unique data-driven approach to investing in moment-of-inception and Series A financing rounds. Moreover, he is also a managing partner at Joyance Partners, an early-stage venture capital partnership. Joyance works with entrepreneurs ready to replace today's syndrome-centric approach with something more personal, preventative, predictive, and, ultimately, more powerful.

  • Mr. Tuyen Do, Senior Managing Director, Teneo Capital

Tuyen Do is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo's Capital Advisory business segment. Mr. Do has more than 20 years of experience providing advice on strategic transactions to management teams, boards of directors, and companies' principal owners. He has worked as an advisor to clients throughout his career, including Berkshire Hathaway, United Rentals, H&E Equipment Services, and many others, helping with acquisitions, divestitures, debt, and equity raise.

  • Mr. Vivek Soni, Managing Director, TiE Boston Angels

As Managing Director, Mr. Soni oversees the operation of TiE Boston Angels' activities and partnerships. Mr. Soni is Managing Partner at Boston Cleantech, which advises Cleantech companies. He has held technology roles at Polaroid Corporation and Shell USA. Mr. Soni has a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He is an active Charter Member and past Board Member of TiE Boston.

  • Ms. An Do, Principal, Patamar Capital.

Based in Ho Chi Minh City, An focuses on investment opportunities in Vietnam. Before joining Patamar Capital, An was a Vice President at DWS Alternatives, a leading global investment manager specializing in private equity and real assets. At DWS, An led the origination and execution of new transactions and the management and monitoring of five investments across the portfolio, including operations, commercial activities, refinancings, and divestments. A worked closely with portfolio leadership teams to implement milestone-driven, detailed operating and financing plans to drive performance improvements.

  • Mr. Gavin Teo, General Partner, Altara Ventures

Gavin Teo is a Partner at B Capital Group and leads the fund's San Francisco office, where he invests in emerging mobile technology and serves on the Board of SilverCloud Health. Before joining B Capital, Gavin led investments in AR/VR, digital healthcare, and IoT at Comcast Ventures. His prior investments include AltSpace, August Home, Automatic Labs, Baobab Studios, BodyMedia, CreativeLive, Felix & Paul Studios, Meta, NextVR, SPACES, and Twitch. Before joining the venture industry, Gavin managed product for FarmVille at Zynga and served as a management consultant at Bain & Company.

  • Mr. Olivier Raussin, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, FEBE Ventures

Previously, Olivier was a General Partner of Project A Ventures. He also holds executive roles at Google, YouTube, Microsoft, and Yahoo!. Olivier is also a Technology Entrepreneur in Europe and received a Master's Degree from Audencia Business School. FEBE Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund in Vietnam, Singapore & Southeast Asia For Entrepreneurs.

  • Ms. Vy Le, Co-founder and General Partner, Do Ventures

Vy Le is a Co-Founder and Joint Partner of Do Ventures. She is a serial entrepreneur with a lot of operational experience and a deep understanding of the Vietnamese market. In 2014, she left Chon.vn to join Vingroup, the largest private corporation in Vietnam. She later held CEO of Vingroup's e-commerce subsidiary, Adayroi.com, and succeeded in scaling the company from scratch to reach a few hundred million dollars in revenue. Throughout her career, she has been known as a creative leader with a remarkable ability to inspire employees and promote team spirit, creativity, and productivity.

The "Global Entrepreneurship - VietChallenge" competition was found to create opportunities for young startups in Vietnam and around the world to learn, improve, and continue approaching the global economy as well as expanding relationships with domestic and international investors.


In the final round, each team will have a 5-minute presentation in English on their business model, development plan, and problem-solving ability to convince the judges. The judges who have in-depth knowledge and experience in the marketplace about the ability to access, call for investment capital, and the potential for sustainable development of the business will decide the Champion of VietChallenge 2020 with a reward of up to USD 15,000.
